US EB-1: Extraordinary Ability
EB-1 is the first preference employment-based immigrant (permanent) category in the US. USCIS calls the branch GTJ covers “Extraordinary Ability”.

What the USCIS page says
USCIS wording: demonstrate extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics
For this branch, the page says the person may file the petition (Form I-140) for themselves, and that no job offer or labour certification is required.
The page names three branches of EB-1. GTJ covers only the first:
- Extraordinary Ability
- Outstanding professors and researchers
- Certain Multinational manager or executive
What this page does not establish
- “EB-1A” is a common abbreviation and GTJ uses it in its web address, but it is not a USCIS label: the string does not appear on the USCIS page.
- The US Department of State’s visa pages (travel.state.gov) refused GTJ’s automated check, so nothing here is cross-checked against them. Everything on this page rests on the USCIS page alone.
- An approved petition, a visa issued by a consulate, admission at the border and a change of status are separate steps. This page does not describe them.
- No fees, form editions, priority dates or processing times are given here.
